Cybersecurity Challenges for Small Businesses

Small businesses deal with many daily obstacles, but one of the most challenging is protecting their company data.  It is important to implement strong security practices to safeguard your business.  There are several simple ways to help protect your business from a malicious cyberattack:

  • Create strong and unique passwords for your online accounts.  Utilizing a password management program is an excellent tool for securely storing passwords.
  • Enable multifactor authentication (MFA) on all accounts. Require employees to use multiple forms of authentication to access sensitive data and systems.  This step will help prevent unauthorized access to your accounts and network.
  • Ensure that your software and systems are updated with the latest security patches and updates.
  • Educate your employees on identifying and avoiding common cyber threats, such as phishing emails, malware, and social engineering attacks.
  • Restrict access to sensitive data to only those employees who need it to perform their job duties.

While it is impossible to prevent a cyberattack, taking these steps will help avoid unauthorized access and reduce the risk of data breaches.  Information courtesy of Century Solutions Group.  For more information, please visit their website at www.centurygroup.net.
