How it Started

Splatterdash Studios is the nation's only "free play art center.” The idea for this unique space was created in 2011 when Splatterdash Studios founder, Joanna Harvey, was teaching art classes out of her basement. "I believe it might have been one of my own children during a class who actually said 'Mom! We don't want you to teach us! We just want to play!' says Joanna.

It was then that she realized that just letting children explore on their own can be educational in and of itself. She later learned that "free play" is extremely beneficial for children's social and emotional wellbeing. Today, it has become the foundation for the Splatterdash mission.

What They Do

Splatterdash Studios is located in the Kedron shopping center in Peachtree City and is open 6 days a week for walk-in play. This open-door policy makes it an ideal space for creatives of all ages including moms of toddlers all the way to retired customers who are looking for a little art therapy. Splatterdash Studios also offers art camps and art parties.  

Now that the studio is 12 years old, Joanna feels ready to move into the next step of the business, which is franchising. "I think when you are passionate about something, you want to share it with others to help it grow. Eventually that passion becomes contagious and almost has a life of its own. We have so many customers here at Splatterdash who have become like family. They have been so supportive on our journey and added fuel to our mission to franchise” says Joanna.
